FHA 2008

A day off work at last. Food&HotelAsia this year wasnt as good as the one i went for previously. Perhaps it was the company i was with, or perhaps there just wasnt enough food samples. We were given the task get brochures from potential suppliers and to try out new flavours of icecream. So do not think we went there to show off our gluttony side. But i hate the fact that as students, we were under scrutiny from certain traders and deprived to sample their products esp wines. This is afterall a good experience.

I survived one week of work! =D

Other that those annoying lunchtime pest and smelly boots that i've to wear everyday, I've been enjoying myself. My supervisor, Uncle Lim takes good care of us. He always tells us to leave those heavy stuff to the guys, let them do the cleaning up cos we've err.. 16 weeks there. Plenty of time to learn to operate and clean the equipments. We'll be trying out new flavours of icecream next week. How cool is that?! Think peanut butter/lemon tea/rose-flavoured icecream. Those who wants a share, better treat me to dinners.

This has been a busy week cos of on-going production. I've been weighing and packing ingredients, helping out with the mixing, filling icecream into cups (this is seriously nerve-racking, but i'm getting the flow), conducting physical test and err socialising with Uncle. I'm trying to be friends with the moisture analyzer. It drives me mad cos i) it works differently from the one I used in school ii) burns my samples iii) i've to wait for a reallyyyyyyyy long time for the reading to stablise.

Do you remember I once blogged about looking forward to only lunchtime at HPB? I would say I seriously dread going out for lunch now. There is hardly any variety of food and I doubt they practice good hygiene in food preparation. Eeeks so much for working in a food production line. The worst has to be my encounters with chee-ko-peks. I was harassed for two days straight. Can you imagine I've to put up with those whistlings and dirty looks from men? I'm traumatised! I swear I'll flash my finger or give them a flying kick if they ever try anything funny.

Although I'm starting to enjoy work, I want longer weekends so that I've time for sleep, tv, meeting up with my girls. Sigh!

Enough about work, I've lots of photos to upload.

An impromptu kbox session to mark the start of SIP

Drinks at Harry. Probably the last time I'm seeing Bao.

Oh yes, I'll be going for Food Hotel Asia Exhibition. Think food and wine sampling! ((:

Feeling: melancholy

For those who aren't aware, i'm being posted to a frozen dessert company (insert rant) for my internship. I cant think of words to describe how i feel now. I'm still in denial, but i guess i've to snap out of it and just pray that 16 weeks will breeze past. Sigh why must God play a terrible joke on me?

I'm pretty busy lately, just in case you're wondering why i'm onto one of my disappearing acts. In fact, i'm barely alive after being trampled on by Trojan horses. I would dare say I've mastered the skills to format the com now. Muahaha. Huissy said that i'm acting like a floating spirit without the computer, so much so that i've the patience to paint her nails and later remove them again. But aren't spirits supposed to be floating? Yes i know i'm being totally random again.

HAPPY APRIL FOOL PEEPS!

First off, thanks for the loveliest birthday celebrations ever. Thank you for msn messages, text messages, facebook messages, gifts, hugs.. I appreciate the time and effort put in from the bottom of my heart. (:

This year's affair was a rather cosy one where i got to spend quality time with my class and darlings. I've never been a fan of big birthday celebrations and i hate to imagine that in another year's time i would be planning for my bright, shiny age of 21. But i'm not complaining cos that would be the day i grace adulthood officially.

Celebrations started with the class trooping down to Pizza Hut. Those who didnt make it ought to be shot cos this might be the last time we're seeing the guys before their enlistment. Unless someone's willing to organise another outing sometime soon. Ahhh i can see cute one volunteering for this important task. Hehehe.

And lastly, my birthday loot.

I know this entry has taken a wee bit long.
But i'm saving the best for the last.

The end of one signifies the beginning of another. Where do i go from now? I hate making decisions, or more specifically deciding on a definite career interest. For the first time, i feel that i had enough with the whole career thing and am sneaking into this escapism deal of mine. Sometimes i think i'm too sheltered and i need to break free from my comfort zone. It annoys me that i'm just floating along with not much of an anchor. But i dont think i'm even ready to face the world just yet.

So that's how i feel after 3 years of poly education. I wish it didnt end so soon. ):

A spot of nostalgia
My lecturers.
I remember Ms Choo telling the caregroup in 1.1 that 3 years will fly past without us realising. Perhaps we were young and naive back then where only work & play matter. Now i finally understood what she meant. Seriously i dont remember time passing so quickly in pri and sec school.

The class girls. Some are missing though.

Scenes off Brokeback Mountain

The treasures of the class.
Did i mention there're only 3 guys in our class?

Presentation must have kill our brain cells. I can't believe we did all these.

The rest of the photos are up on Facebook.

I figured that too much a day would probably kill my readers. So here's long-awaited day 2 where we'll be moving from the North to the East.

Day 2: Taipei - Chiufen - Hualien

Did i mention travelling to places by bus in Taiwan take hours? I fear long bus rides cos 1) i get strained neck from the uncontrollable jerks 2) my poor butt experiences numbness 3) will disclose this on my entry to Alishan. Before i forget, tour guides love to share this common "joke", i remember hearing this during my previous trip to HK. The Da-ge (this is what bus drivers are known as) who's driving the bus now is top notch, the rest are either hospitalised or not driving anymore. Okay, so they stooped this low to assure us that we'll be safe in these rollercoaster rides.

First stop, Yeliu Stone Park

You must be wondering how interesting these rocks can get. Think differently, cos these rock formations are sculpted by nature. How often do we get to see this Singapore? Or rather do we even have a chance to see this. The azure skies, lush greenery..

Shop houses near the park. These shops look run down, but they probably appear so because they are operating in the less developed areas.

These were taken on my way to Jiufen. Notice the 槟榔 store. This is one of the many along the roads after the expressway. 槟榔 sold is mixed with lime (not the fruit!) and wrapped in a leaf. There is also a story behind those skimpily dressed girls which i can barely remember. Opps.

Next stop, Chiufen
A village with many teahouses and shops selling famous local dishes, snacks and crafts. We left with boxes of sun biscuit, assorted flavours of mochi, fruit jelly. The bus ride down was horrible. Sharp turns were made without any warning and i had to stand at a weird angle beside the da ge for closed to 2o minutes. Can you tell how relieved i was when i alighted from the bus? But I could barely walk properly as my legs pressed against the safety handles throughout the whole journey. Although it was a good experience to take the public transport, i would only try it again when it is less packed.

Train ride to Hualien

I asked Daddy casually if the windows inside the train can be opened and shut easily, just like those you see in those movies. Guess what he said. He doesnt remember seeing this in Jay Chou's MVs. -______- He must have thought i was kidding when i asked that. I've never taken a train in my life, except for the MRT of cos. The train was delayed for closed to 45 minutes. Sickening. This ride was 3 hours long, and from what i gathered, it was travelling along the East Coast Highway. It was indeed a scenic ride coupled with warm country inns, plantations, beautiful mountains and lakes.

Although Hualien is less developed compared to Taipei, the hotel room arent in the least shabby.

Tau Huay. Notice that it's clear soup instead of syrup here. It's really yummy. Who says yummy food are sinful huh. Heheh.

girl

I may attempt to write something witty about myself here. In fact I'm any plain jane you would see on the streets. Often caught daydreaming and walking aimlessly
